Venus – Mustard Hakoba Kaftan

Hakoba fabric is synonymous with intricate embroidery, dainty craftsmanship and impeccable detailing. It is considered a royal fabric as it was worn by kings and queens in the olden days. Reflecting on Embroidery per se which is often one of the key elements in Hakoba products, has a very interesting history. It was actually patronized by the elite in the days of princely states for summer wear. Eyelet embroidery was done on white cotton fabric to keep them cool in the summer. In England the ladies of the house were trained in the fine art of embroidery in a separate room in the manor. It found it’s application in garments, kerchiefs, bonnets, etc. In short embroidery was the exclusive domain of royalty worldwide.

Around 50 years ago two enterprising brothers decided to make this concept available to women across all strata of society. They combined their names to form a brand name called HAKOBA.

The kaftan is one of the most versatile garments in a wardrobe. This is a versatile piece that can be used at day, night, resorts and even as a lounge wear.

Hand block printing: The belt has been embellished with a very simple pattern using a single block, however, hand block printing on a fabric like hakoba can be quite challenging due to the eyelets.
